Here’s another welcome to my writing blog! (Featuring updates on my future career as an author, haha).

About last year this time I was just starting this blog, sitting in my German castle bedroom, with my suitcase in the closet, and plenty of book ideas in my head. This Spring, I’m no longer writing to you from a castle, but there is a fluffy cat nearby, which makes up for that. Like last year (and always) my head is also still full of book ideas, but right now, I wanted to give you a quick update on what I’m doing with those ideas. And what I’m doing in general.
I’ve truly been enjoying this season of being back in the States with my family and being able to help them more. Also, it’s been a great time working for SOREDI again, and volunteering with a faith-based kids program at a local school. (Thank you Lord for such opportunities!) I’ve gotten to spend time with friends, both old and new, and I’ve also gotten caught up on some quality tv shows with my siblings. (Notably Fullmetal Alchemist and Mr. Sunshine, ahaha). (Would recommend if you like complex plots and crying.)
And… I’ve been writing. I’ve submitted to a few different agents, gotten a few rejections (every time, actually😅 ) and afterwards, I’ve gone back to editing. But, despite no significant progress in this first year of attempts, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the writing process. I hope that one day I’ll have to write under a publisher’s deadlines, but for now, it’s nice to write when I want to write.
Word Count since January: ~ 70k. I have one more part left in my Thornbrook series, which I hope to finish this year, along with another round of drastic edits on my Sen series.
Maybe by next spring, my update will be more exciting. Or maybe not. But I’ll trust that to the one who’s writing my story.
Much love,
Abigail Skelton
